Cosmid cloning and mutagenesis were used to identify genes involved in the production of phaseolotoxin, the chlorosis-inducing phytotoxin of Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola, the causal agent of halo blight of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.).
