Yersinia pestis isolates were genotyped analyzing the polymorphic DNA regions named variable number tandem repeats (VNTR). Allele variants were studied by high-resolution melting analysis (HRMA) of polymerase chain reaction fragments obtained for 25 VNTR loci.
