Yellow head virus (YHV) is a highly virulent pathogen of penaeid shrimp. An isolate obtained from Penaeus vannamei during a yellow head disease outbreak in February 2006 in Ratchaburi Province, Thailand was purified following passage in experimentally infected shrimp.
