The etiology and pathophysiology of Tourette syndrome (TS) have not yet been clarified. Despite inconsistencies in the literature, some conclusions can be drawn on genetics, neuroanatomy and neurotransmitters. The inheritance of TS is unknown; the etiology seems to be polygenic.
