7 Jul 2008
Abstract excerpt
The paper describes the presence of a single amino acid mutation in the protein E1 of 7 isolates of Chikungunya virus. The strains come from autochtonous and imported cases in Italy. The importance of this mutation in terms of a better adaptability of the viruses to the mosquitos vector (Aedes albopicticus) is discussed.
