BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Transforming growth factor beta1 (TGFbeta1) acts as an important profibrogenic cytokine in liver fibrogenesis. The aim of this study was to explore the association between TGFbeta1 gene polymorphisms and liver cirrhosis.
