A novel mesophilic, Gram-positive, cream- to pale yellow-pigmented, aerobic bacterium, designated MSL-15T, was isolated from a soil sample collected from Bigeum Island, South Korea. The cells were catalase-positive, motile and irregular rods. The diamino acid content of the cell-wall peptidoglycan was determined to be 2,4-diaminobutyric acid.
