OBJECTIVE: To construct a hyaluronidase (hyl) gene mutant strain of Enterococcus faecium and to study the function of hyl gene. METHODS: An isogenic hyl-deficient mutant (*hyl) with suicide plasmid pTX4577 was constructed and screened by allelic replacement.
