OBJECTIVE: Proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are striking features shared by vascular ageing, atherosclerosis, and in-stent restenosis. VSMC biology depends in part on polyamines whose metabolism is closely regulated by ornithine decarboxylase antizyme 1 (OAZ1).
