Macrophages infiltrate peripheral nerves and may contribute to neural damage in the Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). We determined whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in genes encoding macrophage-mediators are related to the susceptibility and severity of GBS.
