Mutations in the Bacillus subtilis major RNA polymerase sigma factor gene (rpoD/crsA47) and a sensory receiver gene (spoOA/rvtA11) are potent intergenic suppressors of several stage 0 sporulation mutations (spoOB, OE, OF & OK).
