The Bacillus subtilis intergenic suppressor mutations crsA and rvtA, previously shown to restore sporulation competence to a variety of strains containing stage 0 sporulation defects, also suppress lesions in the stage II sporulation genes spoIIF, spoIIN and spoIIJ.
