Familial head and neck paragangliomas account for approximately 10% of all head and neck paragangliomas. There are three known genes associated with genetic susceptibility to head and neck paragangliomas: succinate dehydrogenase complex subunit 'D', 'B' and 'C' (SDHD, SDHB and SDHC).
