BACKGROUND: Mutations in the PTEN-induced kinase 1 (PINK1) gene have been identified in recessively inherited and sporadic early-onset parkinsonism (EOP). METHODS: A total of 131 Norwegian patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease were included.
