Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common cancer in the world. Liver transplantation represents the potentially curative treatment for small HCC. Recurrence after surgical resection and liver transplantation remains one of the major obstacles in further prolonging survival of patients with HCC.
