We developed a real-time quantitative detection assay for the pathogen Borrelia burgdorferi, a Lyme borreliosis (LB) agent, using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) with primers and probe for a Borrelia genus-specific region of 16S ribosomal RNA.
