The recent completion of the sequencing project of the opportunistic human pathogenic yeast, Candida albicans (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/), led us to analyze and classify its ATP-binding cassette (ABC) proteins, which constitute one of the largest superfamilies of proteins.
