The present nomenclature of the splice variants of the lysosome-associated membrane protein type 2 (LAMP-2) is confusing. The LAMP-2a isoform is uniformly named in human, chicken, and mouse, but the LAMP-2b and LAMP-2c isoforms are switched in human as compared with mouse and chicken.
