BACKGROUND: PRKAR1A gene encodes the type 1A regulatory subunit of protein kinase A. The mutation of this gene causes Carney complex which is an autosomal dominant multiple neoplasia syndrome characterized by spotty pigmentations, endocrine overactivity and cardiac myxoma.
