BACKGROUND: Alloantibodies against the human platelet (PLT) alloantigen (HPA)-15 system residing on CD109 can cause fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT), posttransfusion purpura, and PLT transfusion refractoriness.
