BACKGROUND: We identified a gene (PRKAG2) that encodes the gamma-2 regulatory subunit of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) with a mutation (Arg302Gln) responsible for familial Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome.
