Melanoma cells typically express wild-type p53, yet they are notoriously resistant to DNA-damaging agents. Here, we show that sodium butyrate (NaB), a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor, induced apoptosis in human melanoma cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner.
