Abstract excerpt
Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a pharmacogenetic disorder with an autosomal dominant inheritance. During exposure to triggering agents as volatile anaesthetics, affected individuals may develop a potentially fatal hypermetabolic syndrome caused by excessive calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum in skeletal muscle.
