Acrosome biogenesis involves the transport and fusion of Golgi-derived proacrosomal vesicles along the acroplaxome, an F-actin/keratin 5-containing cytoskeletal plate anchored to the spermatid nucleus. A significant issue is whether the acroplaxome develops in acrosomeless mutant mice.
