The stoichiometry of subunit 8 in yeast mitochondrial F(1)F(0)-ATP synthase (mtATPase) has been evaluated using an immunoprecipitation approach. Single HA or FLAG epitopes were introduced at the N-terminus of subunit 8. Expression of each tagged subunit 8 variant in yeast cells lacking endogenous subunit 8 restored a respiratory phenotype and had little measurable effect on ATP hydrolase activity of the isolated...
