The cepIR genes encode an N-acyl homoserine lactone (AHL)-dependent quorum-sensing system consisting of an AHL synthase that directs the synthesis of N-octanoyl-L-homoserine lactone (ohl) and n-hexanoyl-L-homoserine lactone and a transcriptional regulator.
