The molecular chaperone BiP/GRP78 associates with various polypeptides in the endoplasmic reticulum, including immunoglobulin chains. We now show, using chemical cross-linking, that another endoplasmic reticulum stress protein, GRP94, associates with newly synthesized immunoglobulin light and heavy chains.
