The onset of aggregation of bacterially-grown Dictyostelium discoideum amoebae is accompanied by the accumulation of the discoidin proteins. An immunofluorescent analysis demonstrates that discoidin is distributed throughout the cytoplasm, but is excluded from vesicles and nucleoli.
