Notch signaling is an extremely conserved and widely used mechanism regulating cell fate in metazoans. Interaction of Notch receptors (Notch) with their ligands (Delta-like or Jagged) leads to cleavage of the Notch intracellular domain (NICD) that migrates into the nucleus.
