AIMS: A blinded trial was performed on Cryptosporidium genotyping using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)/restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of the Cryptosporidium oocyst wall protein (COWP) gene between DNA extracted from oocyst suspensions as compared with DNA from fixed and stained faecal smears on glass microscope slides.
