Two sisters descended from consanguineous parents underwent unsuccessful IVF treatments. Their oocytes showed neither a first or second polar body, nor pronuclei. After cytogenetic preparation, all oocytes were characterized by condensed maternal metaphase I chromosomes and premature chromosome condensation of the sperm nucleus.
