OBJECTIVE: To suggest a new ultrasonographic approach for prenatal diagnosis of esophageal atresia (EA). METHODS: Since 1995, whenever EA is suspected, we perform a systematic multiplanar ultrasonographic scanning of the fetal upper body in order to demonstrate an esophageal pouch.
