A novel amino acid based dimethacrylate monomer (lysineurethanedimethacrylate, LUDM) was prepared by the addition of hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) to lysinediisocyanate (LDI). The structure was confirmed by FT-IR and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy as well as FAB-MS.
