Attempts were made to select mutants on agar media containing the new ketolide ABT-773, erythromycin or rifampicin, at concentrations above the MICs, from Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes and Haemophilus influenzae, including erythromycin-resistant strains.
