Some patients with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection are clinically resistant to antibiotics such as erythromycin, clarithromycin, or clindamycin. We isolated M. pneumoniae from such patients and found that one of three isolates showed a point mutation in the 23S rRNA gene.
