Estrogen receptor alpha (ER alpha) encoding gene is one of the candidate genes to be involved in the development of osteoporosis. Until now correlation between three ER gene polymorphisms (identified with PvuII, XbaI and BstUI) and bone mineral density (BMD) have been investigated.
