Mutant gene blocks HIV's entry into cells.

Abstract excerpt

Some people may be protected from HIV infection by an inherited gene mutation. The mutation was identified in two men who remained uninfected in spite of multiple high-risk sexual exposures to the virus. The mutation affects the gene encoding a co-receptor for HIV. One percent of the western European descent population is estimated to carry this mutation.
