TGFbeta1, a multifunctional growth modulator, inhibits the proliferation of epithelial cells. TGFbeta1 signaling is dependent on the heterodimerization of the TGFbeta1 receptor II (TGFbeta1RII) with the TGFbeta1 receptor I (TGFbeta1RI).
