Oligodeoxyribonucleotides containing a DNA lesion were synthesized and inserted into vector DNAs to introduce the lesion at a predetermined site. The manipulated DNAs were transfected into living mammalian cells and the mutants induced by the DNA lesion were collected and analyzed.
