Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS) is a chromosomal instability disorder, clinically characterised by microcephaly, immunodeficiency, radiosensitivity and a very high predisposition to lymphoid malignancy. Recently, it was demonstrated that mutations in the NBS1 gene are responsible for NBS.
