A new restricted facultative methanol-oxidizing bacterium Methylobacillus sp. strain SK1 (DSM 8269) was subjected to insertion mutagenesis studies with the transposon Tn5 to generate mutants deficient in the production of methanol dehydrogenase (MDH).
