Atypical lipomatous tumours (ALTs) represent a distinctive subset of mesenchymal neoplasms featuring mature adipocytic differentiation. Most ALTs are characterized cytogenetically by the presence of supernumerary ring and/or long marker chromosomes derived from the chromosomal region 12q13-15.
