Coding sequences of the paralogous FUT1 (H), FUT2 (Se), and Sec1 alpha 2-fucosyltransferase genes were obtained from different primate species. Analysis of the primate FUT1-like and FUT2-like sequences revealed the absence of the known human inactivating mutations giving rise to the h null alleles of FUT1 and the se null alleles of FUT2.
