Genetic epidemiological studies reveal that relatives of bipolar probands are at increased risk for recurrent unipolar, bipolar, and schizoaffective disorders, whereas relatives of probands with schizophrenia are at increased risk for schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and recurrent unipolar disorders.
