PURPOSE: Was to establish the molecular genetics of thalassemias in Argentina. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Genomic DNA was amplified by PCR and six point mutations in the beta-globin gene were investigated by Dot Blot hybridization using oligonucleotide probes.
