What would separate coupling from coincidence?

by concepcionvazquez

Which pathway perturbation would preserve lipid engagement yet eliminate the LC3 LIR receptor-binding response, and what distant conformational change would need to disappear with it to support causal coupling rather than coincident local changes?

Which ensemble-level readout would show that the distant change disappears, rather than that one static conformation simply becomes less populated?

I'd compare the distant region's state populations and exchange rates with and without lipid, before and after pathway perturbation. The proposed signal is loss of the lipid-induced difference after perturbation. That would support loss of the resolved ensemble response, bounded by the states and timescales the measurement can detect.
