<h4>Background: </h4> The cytoplasmic isoform of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PCK1) is a rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis. Mounting studies have shown that PCK1 plays a key role in human cancers including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
