Puccinia kuehnii and P. melanocephala cause orange and brown rust of sugarcane, respectively. Puccinia kuehnii has been confirmed in Asia, Australia and recently, the Caribbean basin, whereas P. melanocephala is distributed among the majority of sugarcane growing regions.
