In September 2012, orange uredinial lesions (0.3 to 1.2 mm long × 0.1 to 0.3 mm wide; mean 0.6 ± 0.16 mm long × 0.2 ± 0.01 mm wide) surrounded by dark, reddish-brown necrotic tissue and running parallel to the leaf venation were observed on leaves of a major commercial sugarcane (Saccharum spp. L. hybrid) cultivar, DB7869, grown on an estate in east Berbice-Corentyne, Guyana.
