<title>Abstract</title> <p> Background Propionic acidemia (PA) is a rare autosomal recessive metabolic disorder caused by defects in propionyl-CoA carboxylase (PCC), a mitochondrial enzyme composed of six alpha (PCCA) and six beta (PCCB) subunits.
